Poiana Uzului Dam

The Poiana Uzului Lake is a complex water accumulation built for the:

- supply of raw water for treatment in order to provide drinking water for the localities part of the Trotuş Watershed: Oneşti, Bacău, Comăneşti, Tg. Ocna, Dărmăneşti;

- production of electricity in the hydro power station downstream the dam;

- provision of a servitute discharge downstream the dam of 100 l/sec.

The accumulation has NO defence function against flooding but can reduce the high water discharge without water volume.

The Poiana Uzului Dam, built between 1965 and 1972, is a gravity dam made of concrete, with a maximum height of 80 m and a maximum width of 15 m at the base of the dam. Accumulated volume: 90 million cu.m. Lake area: 340 ha.
